Well it’s finally here!
If you follow me on twitter, personally or my blog or follow me or the blog on Facebook, you’ve been seeing me drop the #DK11 hashtag all over the place for the past few weeks.
So what’s it been all about?? Well, this month marks the 11th anniversary of this here blog. I missed doing something around the more obvious 10th anniversary last year due to life and work issues but, because we do things different here anyway not just in name but in deed too, we decided to make sure and acknowledge this year’s anniversary.
On August 11, we will be releasing This One Goes to Eleven…, a compilation album featuring eleven brand new, exclusive tracks (plus two bonus tracks that have seen only very limited released) by artists who have been long time favorites here at the blog.
To kick it off we have the promo trailer for the very first single from This One Goes to Eleven…, “Known P.S.A.” by Toronto hip-hop duo, The Names Are Known. Hit the jump to watch it and to read the full press release on the album. Then come back tomorrow to hear the full track and then every day after that to hear more tracks from This One Goes to Eleven… before it’s full release on 8.11.14.

Long time readers know I was a big fan of Jai Nitai Lotus‘ Something You Feel album and went as far as endorsing it on the Polaris Music Prize website. Here’s a new track by him. Peep the official PR blur:
Montreal-based MC/Producer Jai Nitai Lotus (pronounced Jhai like Thai, Nee-tie) is back after releasing his highly acclaimed LP Something You Feel, to bring forth his new mixtape project titled Acknowledgement. The title is inspired by the opening song on the legendary John Coltrane album, A Love Supreme. For Jai Nitai, it’s about acknowledging the original source of creation: the Creator, as well as artists he draws inspiration from. Jai reworks an impressive variety of productions from artists such as Haitus Kaiyote, Kanye West, Thunder Cat, Madlib, as well as includes his own originals.
On this first video single and opening track “Honest”, Jai embraces Pusha T‘s “Numbers on the Boards” by keeping Pusha T’s possessed-like aggression, but flips the intention of the lyrics: “I see flaws, blood on your diamonds, see these wars that’s relyin’ on your minin’.”
Jai Nitai will be releasing the Acknowledgement mixtape in collaboration with Dudley Perkins & Georgia Anne Muldrow‘s label, Somothaship Connect.

Written & Performed by Jai Nitai Lotus
Original Production by Don Cannon & Kanye West for Pusha T‘s “Numbers on the Boards”
