Dear family, friends, & lovers,
In response to what is developing around the world and within all of us, I poetically write a letter to my estranged father describing the current situation we are in with as well as the #IdleNoMore movement.
escuchas.
My fellow Canadians should have at least a passing awareness of this but in case you missed it or are reading from outside Canada in a country that does not have an indigenous or aboriginal population that has been galvanized by the birth of the IDLE NO MORE movement and the events of the past couple months, the goal of IDLE NO MORE is the “education and the revitalization of Indigenous peoples through Awareness and Empowerment. IDLE NO MORE has successfully encouraged knowledge sharing of Indigenous Sovereignty and Environmental Protections.” Click HERE to learn more.
Dig that? Then listen to the Idle No More: Songs for Life Vol. 1 compilation HERE.

I like this. The interpolation of Wes Mackey‘s blues sound is really fresh to my ears although may recall the theme from The Sopranos or when Moby was sampling field songs for some. Track from the Good Morning Blues album out officially on Jan. 22 but which you can preview in FULL via bandcamp HERE.
This is wild old and I only discovered it earlier today while trying to clean out a bunch of emails I never got to in my blog submission inbox but besides just being super-dope, a Canada-Brooklyn-Harvard connection also meant I had to post this regardless of how old it might be. FIYA! Don’t sleep.
Now when T-Money says he does it “For my city” he means MTL (Montreal), not ATL, right because I just wasn’t sure when I heard that beat?! T-Money “Do It For My City” is out TODAY: BUY it on iTunes.
Remix (‘geemix’) by Georgia Anne Muldrow of the final track, “Alice Piece Peace” on Montreal MC, Jai Nitai Lotus‘ excellent Something You Feel album which you can listen to in full HERE.
