[Album Stream] The Azari & III Album is Fantastic

Another one I missed from last summer!

I can probably count the number of truly great (non-compilation/DJ Mix) house music albums on two hands. This self-titled album by the Toronto act, Azari & III just might be one of them. Fantastic. I was getting early, classic Trax Records vibes in places while listening to the album which I just got put up on in the last week or so. Y’all need to check this out, serious!

[Album] Shaun Boothe – Waiting Room (FULL Stream)

I’m not sure how I managed to miss the release of this mixtape album, Waiting Room by Toronto-based MC, Shaun Boothe a while ago at this point (actually I do know: not regularly reading my blog email so much any more probably had something to do with it!). Probably best know for his really well-done Biography Series of songs on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Muhammad Ali, Diddy, Oprah, Bob Marley and others, I’ve long been a fan of this up-and-comer. Have to say, considering how long ago some of the tracks on this album were released (some as far back as 2009), this holds together really well as a single body of work. With cameos by Talib Kweli, Cyhi da Prince, Amanda Diva and Kardinal Offishall, this is definitely worth your time and attention.

New Music: Saukrates – Season One (FULL Album Stream)

This is apparently the first official album by Saukrates in over a decade (actually thirteen years!) That’s nuts! This album is really, really good though. A must-listen from my pov.

For you non-T.dot types, ‘Bigg Soxx’ as he’s known by some here in the city is one of Toronto’s finest and was dropping 12″s getting love in the US way back in the early 90’s before Drake was on Degrassi or even Kardi was spittin’ professionally. Salute a vet for still making vital, fresh music.
