Maino over what sounds like a Lex Luger beat (?). Sounds pretty good on it too! Is this the 2011 version of B.I.G.’s classic “Just Playing (Dreams)” (bka “Dreams of F-ckin’ an R&B B-tch”)?? I know that’s borderline blasphemous, even if Maino is from Bed-Stuy BK too, but could be!

Even though I picked the image for this post, dunno if Lil Kim is still considered a ‘dime piece’ outside of the most hood of hoods either nowadays, but hey….

As for my Best of 2010 lists??! Yeah, well… what had happened was…. You know what? I did one version of them for the Village Voice’s Pazz & Jop poll if you’re curious what I was really digging last year but it’s not my hip hop-focused lists, it’s more general. I did submit some hip hop lists for Rizoh’s Hip Hop Critic Poll but I never saw that ever get published so no idea what happened there either!

News: Riots in Egypt Spread; The Government Shuts off the Internet & Text Messaging

Seriously, it’s SUPER loony-tunes right now in Egypt. Here’s an additional twisted thought though: if more countries, after Tunisia, Lebanon, Yemen and Egypt, continue to collapse like this, some may posit that George W. Bush’s ‘domino theory’ for spreading democracy in the Middle East has been vindicated and ultimately proven right although I’m not sure this fits my personal definition of peace and democracy!
