After the questionable posting of Ms. Kreayshawn over the weekend, the balance of this pure uncut hip-hop heatrock from Nas that just dropped today (??) to restore order to The Kitchen was pretty much a necessity methinks. From (I presume) the forthcoming Life is Good album, is this the Nas his fans have, with a few exceptions along the way (Stillmatic, “Made You Look” etc.), been missing since his iconic, legendary Illmatic debut album? As you can tell from my intro to this post, as far as this track, which puts me in the mind of a 2011-style “Made You Look” with elements that evoke Pharoahe Monch‘s “Simon Says” and Beastie Boys-type scratching, goes I’m coming down on the same side as those who think it is. Do you agree though??

Perfect remix for those of you who held out to the end of this week’s edition of Ultra-Chill and are just about to wrap up tonight. C, I’ma catch up with you down there in a couple weeks, maybe?
“Here is a soulful house remix I recently completed of Dwele’s “I Think I Love U”. It’s actually a remix of the So So Def Remix feat. Styles P off the 12″ single. I thought this version with Styles P would make for a more interesting remix than using the original. Thanks for your time & hope you enjoy!”

I asked about this chick on twitter last night. Three days ago I had never even heard of her but since then I can’t seem to escape her! They’re even playing her on Dallas urban station K104. The fact that a total non-music industry friend of mine just sent me the video yesterday too only confirms this is probably going to be a massive hit (it already is by viral standards). A ream of essays about race, gender and cultural apporpriation issues could probably be written about this song, video and the ‘White Girl Mob’ her and her sister, V Nasty claim to rep and I’m sure they will be. I suggest my friend, Del be one of the first to begin that dialogue because he certainly has an opinion or two about them!

MP3 stream (no download): Tegan The Creator (Tyler The Creator vs Tegan & Sara) by TheJaneDoze | Alt. MP3 Download link: mediafire
This isn’t quite as great as I hoped it would be but it’s far from terrible either and just too conceptually compelling for me not to post here or just on the Kitchen Facebook page so here goes….
“We are The Jane Doze, a female mashup/remix/DJ based in NYC. Most recently, we’ve had the #1 spot on Hype Machine with our mix of Ratatat and Marvin Gaye. In light of the Tyler The Creator / Tegan & Sara Twitter beef that made Billboard headlines a few weeks ago, we decided to mix “Yonkers” with “Call It Off”.
What y’all think thiough??
