MP3: All You Need Is Now by Duran Duran
Seriously… I think I actually love this! Does Simon LeBon kind of sound like Liam Gallagher c. the era of the 90’s Britpop heyday a bit at the beginning and in the verses or is that just me?
Not my usual Sunday fare of soul, reggae or jazz but chill enough to post I think, still….

Another smoker from the DFA crew:
“Discodeine is one of the most anticipated duos, the brainchild of two musical producers to haunt our collective conscious in recent years: Pilooski, an already well-known fixture amongst the Parisian music scene, best known for his “dirty edits” (a collaborative project between Pilooski and Dirty Sound System) series, also his collaborations and remixes for LCD soundsystem, Jarvis Cocker, Iggy Pop, Brian Ferry, Nina Simone, and his most recent involvement in producing The Aikiu’s debut album (due early 2011) and Pentile, an equally respected musician/producer in his own right, and until now best known for his involvement with Octet and France Copeland.

Earlier this year, the duo decided to write and record their debut album, consisting of only original material, written from scratch and including an honorable handful of yet-to-be-announced guest vocalists to be featured on some of the tracks coming next year.
Right off the bat, ‘Synchronize’ is the first single from their highly anticipated forthcoming full-length….”
Am I wack for admitting I don’t know who like 75% of the people they have worked with are?

“It has indeed been a busy year for UK indie-rock trio Sky Larkin. Releasing their sophomore offering, Kaleide this past Fall with Wichita Recordings (Best Coast, Bloc Party, Peter Bjorn and John, The Cribs) – the band recently released a very special EP ‘Year Dot’ on November 15 in Europe (US release date to be announced soon). Featuring remixes by Spirit Spine, Esben and the Witch as well as a raw and stormy cover of the classic Heart hit ‘Barracuda,’ this is one to surely grab for the holiday season!”
