MP3 Download: Rich Kidd & dj NaNa – New Spot
Dropping TOMORROW (4.3.12). Private release event celebrating the mixtape tomorrow night too. Be resourceful, I’m sure you’ll figure out where it’s going down.
From my people at 2+2 who manage Zeds Dead and Omar LinX (who long-time readers here at The Kitchen will know from my prior posts):
“Zeds Dead and Omar LinX present: Victor – seven genre-bending tracks on Mad Decent’s Jeffree’s label. Fusing nostalgic 90s sample-based hip hop with futuristic bass and cinematic soundscapes, The Victor Mixtape is both a step forward and a throwback to the past featuring Omar LinX rapping over some of Zeds Deads classic hits such as “Eye On Fire”, “Rude Boy”, and more!”
Hip-hop and dubstep connect like Voltron. Get familiar!

I was saying on twitter last night that the RDIO is my main discovery touch-point for new music and finding out which albums are out nowadays via the New Releases tabs on their website. F-ck a blog, tbh! That is where I saw long-time, underground MC, Planet Asia had dropped a new album called Black Belt Theatre yesterday. I clicked play on it out of curiosity and proceeded to have my mind half-melted. GREAT.F-CKING.ALBUM, seriously!
Then later last night I was trying to clear out my blog email mailbox and saw this promo mixtape, The Arrival with the NY homie and legendary mixtape DJ, Doo Wop sent out my his label, Wandering Worx to promote Black Belt Theatre. It starts off just OK but gets hot real quick. Click play fa sho’! And then hit the jump for an embed of the Black Belt album and some promo visuals from the album (note: the album embed will probably only work in countries where RDIO and the album is licensed and active, US, Canada and maybe Australia and Brazil??)
Still miss Big Poppa. It’s the Brooklyn in me. So, M-Rock, take it away….
“I’m pleased to drop this brand new Best of Biggie for all his fans. On top of that, I’m happy I made the march 9th death anniversary deadline. Long story short, I was working on another Valentine’s tape because the first was so well-received, and then Cabbie said I should really do a March 9th BIG tape. It made sense because it’s been long overdue and the timing. That was it, my RNB tape had to get pushed back. Take an hour and a half and let the funk sit in. Enjoy.”
Shout to all my peoples in Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Red Hook, Gowanus, Carroll Gardens and Bed-Stuy. Brooklyn, we still doin’ it!!!
The Weeknd’s now seminal debut mixtape re-imagined as house (haus) music. Interesting….
