Saw her tear it up at their debut show a few weeks back at the Dakota Tavern on the Ossington strip in downtown Toronto. This is so cool (although I kind of wish someone like Questlove or Mark Ronson would have been given a shot to produce this). Fifteen years after Pops Staples, patriarch of the iconic Staple Singers died, daughter Mavis Staples has teamed up with her collaborative partner Jeff Tweedy (producer of her albums, You Are Not Alone and One True Vine) to finish the recordings of his final tracks that he made in 1999. The tracks will be released as Don’t Lose This on February 17 via Wilco‘s dBpm imprint and Anti-.
