I’m sightly biased here as Tuku is an old friend of mine, but this is pretty good stuff, well worth your time. Soulful, jazzy vocals over bangin’, classic hip hop production from Dr. Dre, Dilla, Madlib, 9th Wonder, Flying Lotus, Kev Brown etc. reinterpolated by the very underrated T.dot beatsmith, Gigz The Unknown Producer. Toronto heads will get this reference point, think a slightly more mature, spiritually-centered version of Shi Wisdom for a very rough sense of what the entire Moonday album sounds like from a vocal point of view.

Lead (?) single from the new album, The Calling by Toronto soul singer, Merna (the artist FKA Ayah) which just dropped today. Have posted some stuff featuring her in the past but have never been a super fan to be honest. That being said, this single is very good and the album overall ain’t too bad sounding either. It’s just a tad too polished to my ears in parts on initial plays but it is, admittedly, a very well-crafted body of work and I’ll try and keep going back to it to see how my impressions evolve with repeat listens.

Beautiful soulful track from local Toronto singer, Daniel Caesar which I highly recommend if you like James Blake, Sampha etc.
Used to love this way under-appreciated classic from the legendary Tommy Boy record label (aka where I used to work) back in the day. Perfct track for a #TBT post. Enjoy….
I am obsessed with this song right now. This is that rip-your-guts-out type of soul music. #realsoul #onrepeat
