[MP3 + Music Video] Saidah Baba Talibah – High

The (S)cream album’s been out for a minute but this video for the “High” track from it just dropped recently. You can listen to the album in full here: Facebook | Bandcamp

I was gonna include a link to her crowd-funding page for her new album but it appears the campaign has ended and was successful. Congrats, Saidah. Now go make a great record!

Three Tracks from Brendan Philip’s sAvidA Project: xxi (‘All The Way Down’) / VIA / HeAt

Man, truth be told I can’t even keep up with all the music friend of The Kitchen and local Toronto left-field, electronic soul singer, Brendan Philip puts out but he pulled my collar and hipped me to this via twitter the other day so I’m helping him spread the word here. Brendan renders arguments about whether Autotune is corny, played out etc. irrelevant. Y’all need to peep game:

[MP3] The Weeknd – Kiss Land (prod. by Silkky Johnson)

Just spotted via twitter. In a post-Frank Ocean world, do people still care about the The Weeknd though?

[Events] Check Out Stevie Wonder Parties in Toronto and New York

The amazing Wonder-full party started by Bobbito and DJ Spinna being held for the 15th year running in NYC. Can’t say how it’s been recently but before I left life in Brookyln, this was the best party in NYC. Buy tickets HERE.

And the homegirl, Tuku has a tribute show called “Through the Wonder Door” the night before to kick off this coming long weekend in Toronto too. Click for details HERE and enjoy Spinna’s Stevie Wonder tribute DJ mix below while you do:

[MP3] Janelle Monae feat. Erykah Badu – Q.U.E.E.N. (M-Rock’s Funky Edit)

Was diggin’ the homie, M-Rock‘s Daft Punk refix. This remix of the Badu/Janelle Monae track that dropped a while back feels a little tepid to me tbh however. Disagree? Let me know in the comments….
