I’m really not feeling up to sifting through all my crap looking for stuff to post today (or at least for right now today) so we going throwback instead. Some of y’all may remember McGruff but for those who don’t, he was a Harlem (d’uh!) MC who came out of the fabled uptown group, Children of the Corn that also featured Cam‘ron, Big L and Murda Ma$e. Unfortunately he never achieved the commercial success of Cam and Ma$e or the critical acclaim of the late, great Big L. Dude could spit somethin’ though and had a few gems if you dig that grimy but Moet-soaked 90’s era NYC hip-hop. Here’s a couple joints from his way-overlooked Destined To Be album from 1998:

Worth looking for the “Reppin’ Uptown” remix with Ma$e if you can find an MP3 of that too. Guess Puff was being an asshole and wouldn’t clear him for McGruff’s album. Coulda made a difference, maybe – Ma$e was that big back then…..
