“Welcome” is a personal record that recounts a lot of events from my upbringing and kind of details my personal story since my family decided to settle in the city of Atlanta when I was 8 years old. Produced by Tone Jonez, the sound is very much inspired by Graduation era Kanye West, one of my personal influences from when I first started making music. It also plays heavily into the theme of my new project.

The video was directed by Rex Novi and the song will be featured on my forthcoming Rise of ATLantis project that is officially set to be released on May 18th.

[MP3 + Music Video] THRASHOLE – You Want Her Feat. Nova Rockafeller, The Buttress, Blimes Brixton

The Sorority not enough for you? Check out the video for the debut single, “You Want Her” by the ‘new-age supergroup’ of female emcees, THRASHOLE led by Canadian rapper, Nova Rockafeller). As their publicist put it, “a gritty joint with a grimy music video that taps into a found-footage aesthetic.” We couldn’t agree more. One thing’s for sure, it’s some different ish and that’s what we do here, it’s in the name! More:

THRASHOLE is a new-age supergroup led by a revolving door of female emcees whose collective sound taps into the murky underbelly of hip-hop. Their lead single “You Want Her” (prod. Nova Rockafeller) features a maniacal array of foreboding bars from Nova, The Buttress, and Blimes Brixton, all laced together by a hook whose demonic vocal asks “don’t you remember me?” The track’s music video is an equally grim, found-footage esque take that provides a glimpse at the eerie world they inhabit.

Nova is a rapper whose eccentric solo work led to signing a deal with the legendary Boardwalk Records, a residency at the Los Angeles staple Low End Theory, and tours alongside Insane Clown Posse and All Time Low alike. With an output inspired by her anger and an intrinsic need to succeed, she’s riding high off aggressive releases like the recently debuted “Jesus On My Neck”. The Buttress is a multifaceted artist from New Jersey who’s slated to release her second, entirely self-produced album in 2018 after starring in Flying Lotus’ breakout film Kuso (which also featured an appearance from Nova). As for Blimes, she’s an emcee who’s prepared to release a new solo record titled Castles on the heels of her viral single “Come Correct”. Her work has led to collaborations with Method Man, Too Short, and Warren G, not to mention it’s allowed her to found Peach House Records which curates a roster of talented women within the music industry.

[Album Stream] Smokepurpp & Murda Beatz – Bless Yo Trap

Be clear: trap music is the punk rock of the new millennia. It’s visceral, raw, noisy, offensive, simple, catchy, kids love it and older people hate it (yup, pretty much all the boxes checked there except maybe political/social thematic concerns). And Smokepurpp is probably one of the best practitioners of a particularly raw and grimy strain of turn up, trap. With an assist for Canada’s Murda Beatz (producer for French Montana, Gucci Mane etc.), he’s dropped a worthy follow-up to his debut album, Deadstar with the just released (a couple weeks ago) Bless Yo Trap.
