Super late pass on this but I’ve been busy. Groundwork is a new weekly party here in Toronto that started last week showcasing the best in new school beat making & production (think a T.dot version of LA’s Low End Theory party for for rough reference purposes). [MP3 + Music Video] Merna – Better Run

Lead (?) single from the new album, The Calling by Toronto soul singer, Merna (the artist FKA Ayah) which just dropped today. Have posted some stuff featuring her in the past but have never been a super fan to be honest. That being said, this single is very good and the album overall ain’t too bad sounding either. It’s just a tad too polished to my ears in parts on initial plays but it is, admittedly, a very well-crafted body of work and I’ll try and keep going back to it to see how my impressions evolve with repeat listens.
