Montreal-based #DK11 album alums, Jai Nitai Lotus and Sam I Am Montolla are back with a new heater, “Life Support.” Here’s the homie, Jai on the track:
This time around it features my very talented sister Sam I Am Montolla… I don’t know many singers who would be eager to sing on something as aggressive as this right here, but she wrote and laid her vocals in under an hour. I had her over for a studio session and we got into some passionate discussions about the world, art, music, and it inspired this song. Afterwards I hit up my brother, the legendary DJ Static for some cuts. When Static sent me the rough edit… I tell you I had that tough, scrunchy face while listening… dude cutting in triplets to the beat. Word!! This song has the energy to propel your 2 minute high-intensity workout 🙂
My only complaint? It’s too short! Put this joint on repeat!

I know I’m wild late on this. Been up on this for a while. Unfortunately, life intervened but I like these tracks so much, especially “No More Interviews”, I still decided it was worth posting in case some of y’all slept on/missed them.

Guess Drake really wanted to treat his fans to something new and special for his birthday. All these joints were premiered on the most recent edition of the OVO Beats 1 radio show and come from a forthcoming OVO label compilation titled, More Life due November 3. What y’all think??

For those of you lamenting the supposed death of ‘real’ hip-hop and the rise of mumble rappers, Common has put together a compelling retort with these four tracks released over the past few weeks. Agree? If so which one is your favorite: “Home”, “Letter to the Free”, “Black America Again” or his remix of Solange‘s “Cranes in the Sky”?

The latest track, “Destiny” by Atlanta MC and #DK11 alum, J.Nolan with singer, Jae Franklin is a banger! Here’s the science on the track and the EP it comes from:
What’s going on good people? I haven’t written a blog post in awhile and I think it’s long overdue. So, quick update! My new EP, “Above The Fray” will be released primarily here on realjnolan.com on November 4th! It will be available for digital download and hard copies will also be available to order. You can pre-order your digital copy now here: http://realjnolan.com/productsep/above-the-fray
In tandem with that, I’d like to announce my official single from the project, “Destiny” featuring Jae Franklin. This song means a lot to me because it details when I first started writing songs and how I feel like this is what I’m supposed to be doing, despite all of the hardships I’ve endured along the way. Jae Franklin is an incredible songwriter and vocalist, some of you may remember the collaboration we did awhile ago called Cheers to Life. She actually ended up naming her album the same thing, so I’m honored to be a part of her journey.
I really need those of you that support me to really show up on November 4th because I’m doing this 100% independently. There’s no big blog sponsoring the project, no background financier, no popular artist endorsing or helping to present this release so this is strictly for the ones that have been down for the longest. It’s only gonna be $5 for the digital, and $8 for hard copies. Let’s show these people what real music is all about! God bless.
